The World of 'Heirs of Olympus'

The world of "Heirs of Olympus" is a fantasy version of ancient Greece. I have merged together the historical with the mythical, hopefully in a coherent and consistent way. The model for this world is approximately 450 B.C., although I’ve fudged on a few time line details in order to bring together people, places, nations, and events in the most exciting and diverse way. Although I’ve done a lot of historical research in fleshing out this world, don’t be surprised if some details have been changed, either to be unpredictable, to incorporate the fantasy element, or to save me from having to get a Ph.D. in Greek history. Nevertheless, players should feel free to do their own reading on aspects of Greek history and/or mythology to help build their character’s background and inspire their imaginations. Just make sure you run such things by the GM so you’re consistent with the world presented here.

"Heirs of Olympus" then, is closer to what Greece might have been in the imaginations of the ancient Greeks than in real life. This overview is of course not everything there is to know, but it’s what most common people in this world know (or think they know). Hopefully, it will give you enough background to help your roleplaying imaginations and give you ideas for how your character fits into this world.
